Provincial Offences

COVID-19 Update

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, a provincial State of Emergency has been declared. Court operations are limited during this time.

Statutory timelines have been extended, including time to exercise your options on the offence notice (ticket). All provincial offences trials are being rescheduled. If you are a defendant, a notice of your new court date will be sent to you by mail to the address on file with the court. If you were summoned to appear in court for a provincial offence during the State of Emergency, you do not need to attend, as the matter will be rescheduled.

If you have any questions about the scheduling of your Provincial Offences Act offence, please email Angela Lumley.

Background

The County of Prince Edward Provincial Offences Office oversees the payments of fines for provincial offences, violations of municipal by-laws and minor federal offences. In addition to collecting fines, the Provincial Offences Office processes charges, schedules court trials and prosecutes most municipal by-laws.

Shire Hall is currently closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. You can still pay a fine online.
